When Something Feels Off, It Usually Is

Most people can tell quite quickly when something is not right. It is not always obvious or easy to explain, but there is usually a moment where something does not sit properly. A comment, a reaction, a gap between what is said and what is done.

The problem is not that people miss these signals. It is that they ignore them. They explain them away, minimise them or give the situation more time to “settle”. Sometimes that is reasonable. Often it is not.

In relationships, this shows up early. Someone says or does something that creates doubt, but it is brushed aside because everything else seems fine. Over time, those small moments tend to build into something more significant.

In business, it can be similar. A decision that does not quite make sense, a dynamic that feels slightly off, a situation that is not being addressed directly. Again, it is often easier to move on than to stop and question it.

The difficulty is that ignoring what feels off does not make it go away. It usually means it becomes clearer later, when the consequences are harder to deal with. This is not about overthinking or reacting to every small detail. It is about paying attention to what you are already noticing.
Most people do know when something is not right. The real question is whether they are prepared to act on it.
